Knockout Pool help 2007
Knockout pools,
aka suicide pools, aka survivor pools, are fairly common in offices and online.
They're fun - for a few weeks anyway- and they're very, very simple. Basically, each
week, as a participant in a knockout pool, one is expected to select a single
team that is most likely to win their game outright in a given week.
There are no point spreads involved, all you need is the inspiration to pick a
single winner every week. The catch is, that you can only select a team
once during the course of the entire season. Logic dictates
that the most heavily favored team on the schedule for any given week is the
best knockout choice for that week. Most people play it that way in early
weeks. Additionally, when there isn't a clear cut favorite often people
will select a home team over a team playing on the road.
Micks-Picks.com is in one of these
this year as part of the
2007 handicapping championship and will gladly provide its selection weekly.
(Note: these are our survivor pool selections, the selections used in the
actual handicapping championship appear on
Micks-Picks.com as some combination of member and free plays) Micks-Picks.com

Cincinnati Knockout
- can u believe that
Chicago (my
actual pick in a second local pool, I'll continue along this column until
I'm done) Denver (this week
the Pats are a big favorite that everyone seems to like, I'm taking Denver
at Mile High and rooting for the Bills huge)
Maybe next year I'll run this and title it: "What team not to select" (I'm going to look at this again and maybe try a different approach next
season)

one of my readers (this may still be helpful) --
